Gamma Horizon is the simpler choice if you mainly want reliable calling with a tidy admin portal. Gamma Webex suits businesses that also run a lot of video meetings and want calling, messaging and meetings in one app.

Both run on Gamma’s UK network and both are supplied by T2K Voice & Data, so the decision comes down to how your team actually works, not which logo you prefer.

What’s the difference between Gamma Horizon and Gamma Webex?

Horizon is a hosted telephone system with softphone apps for PC, Mac and mobile. Webex pairs Cisco’s meeting and messaging software with Gamma’s telephony. Put simply, Horizon starts with the phone and adds collaboration. Webex starts with collaboration and adds the phone.

When is Gamma Horizon the better fit?

Pick Horizon when calls are the job. A recruitment agency in Poole, a solicitor in Dorchester or an accountancy practice in Salisbury will rarely hold 300-person webinars. They want call queues, out-of-hours routing, recording and a handset on every desk. Horizon covers that, and the Enterprise package adds a call centre agent licence.

It also works with Microsoft Teams through Direct Routing, which suits firms that already live in Teams and only need the telephone side. Our guide to Horizon packages goes through the tiers in more depth.

When does Gamma Webex make more sense?

Pick Webex when meetings are as important as calls. Training providers, healthcare groups with remote clinicians and firms with several sites in Southampton, Portsmouth and Winchester often spend more time on video than on the phone. Webex adds an AI assistant for transcripts and summaries, noise removal and larger meeting sizes on the Suite tier.

Be realistic about the catch. A richer platform means more to learn and more to administer. Staff who only answer the phone may never touch most of it.

What about call costs and fair usage?

Both packages include UK calling, but inclusive calls are subject to Gamma’s fair usage rules. Read the Gamma fair usage policy before you plan an outbound sales team or any heavy automated dialling.

What should you check before choosing?

  • Your connection. Allow about 100 Kbps per call each way, and more for video. Test it with our PSTN switch-off checker and a proper line check.
  • Your timeline. With the PSTN switch-off final date on 31 January 2027, number porting needs planning now.
  • Who administers it. If nobody wants to manage a platform, the simpler option usually wins.
  • Handsets. Confirm which desk phones are included and which you’d pay for.

Frequently asked questions

Not quite. It combines Cisco Webex software with Gamma’s UK telephony network, supplied through T2K.

Which is cheaper, Horizon or Webex?

The entry price is lower on Webex Voice, but the packages include different things. Compare like for like against what your team will actually use, then ask for a quote.

Can I keep my existing phone numbers?

Yes, in most cases. Numbers can be ported to either platform. Read our guide to number porting before you cancel old lines.

Can I use Microsoft Teams with either?

Horizon supports Teams calling through Direct Routing. If Teams is your main tool, also see 3CX vs Microsoft Teams Phone.

Are these my only options?

No. 3CX, Mitel MiVoice Business and VoiceFlex Flow suit different needs. Our phone system finder narrows them down.
