Case Study: T2K Delivers 3CX Solution Across 10 Care Home Sites

Effective communication is at the heart of quality care. For South Coast Nursing Homes — a leading care provider operating ten large facilities across Sussex — a reliable, unified telephone network is essential for staff coordination, resident wellbeing, and operational efficiency. Recognising the need to modernise their ageing infrastructure, the organisation embarked on an ambitious rollout of a multi-site 3CX communications platform.

The Challenge

South Coast Nursing Homes, a prominent care provider operating ten large care homes across Sussex, approached T2K after a complex telecoms project had stalled. The existing supplier had recommended 3CX as the ideal multi‑site solution — a recommendation that T2K agreed with, given 3CX's suitability for unified communications across multiple locations.

The change was prompted by the end‑of‑life status of the client's previous phone systems, which had left them maintaining a fragmented network of independent, stand‑alone systems at each site. This made internal communication and management increasingly inefficient.

A key requirement for the new solution was the ability to report on outbound calls and charge where appropriate, ensuring better oversight and cost management across all homes.

Unfortunately, progress on the initial implementation had stalled, with only two sites having partial installations. Given the scale and complexity of the project across ten locations, T2K was brought in to take it forward.

Main Pain Point

The incomplete 3CX deployment, combined with ageing and disconnected systems, created serious operational inefficiencies and left the organisation unable to move forward without additional technical support.

Core Solution Provided

T2K stepped in to take full control of the project. As ownership of the 3CX licence was essential before any work could continue, this became the immediate first step. Once T2K gained control of the licence, a comprehensive review and project recovery plan began.

A T2K Account Executive and Project Manager visited every site to assess the installation status, review existing hardware, and prepare a costed plan to complete the rollout. The 3CX solution was then fully deployed across all ten locations under a single hosted 3CX licence, supporting nearly 500 user extensions.

Implementation and Key Integrations

  • The 3CX system is hosted with co‑located daily backups for optimal resilience.
  • Existing large‑button analogue handsets used in residents' rooms were retained and connected via multi‑port analogue network gateways, preserving familiarity and accessibility for residents.
  • Centralised management now allows full visibility and reporting on all outbound calls, meeting one of the client's core operational needs.

Crucial Details Handled

  • Transfer and management of the 3CX licence.
  • Site surveys and hardware reuse plan.
  • Multi‑site rollout coordination and accountability.
  • Integration of analogue handsets and gateways.
  • Secure hosted architecture with daily backups.

Outcome

The completed project delivered a unified, modern communications network spanning all ten care homes. T2K's structured delivery ensured service continuity, enhanced reporting capability, and technical resilience for the organisation's long‑term needs.

The final solution met all client expectations, aligning with the high technical standards consistently upheld by T2K.
